“Desert Hearts" hit the big screen in 1985 and immediately stirred up controversy for not “warning” audiences about its lesbian content.  The movie went on to received critical acclaim for its realism and is now considered one of the most famous and influential major lesbian movies of all time.   Your HRC Triangle Area Steering Committee worked very hard to get the very last public 35mm print of this groundbreaking classic film to Raleigh for this one-time event.  The only other print in existence is preserved in the UCLA Modern Film Museum.

This promises to be a special evening NOT to be missed!

At the event we will have a special announcement regarding an upcoming production by Desert Hearts’ acclaimed OUT director Donna Deitch.

This movie is a special event being presented by HRC.  Because this is an HRC event (not an official Museum of Art (MOA) event), it is only listed on this HRC website, with tickets available here only.  The MOA website will not be advertising this event.

At the event, HRC will be providing information on our recent LGBT political activities, volunteer opportunities, membership information, and the upcoming Dinner / GALA (moving to Raleigh from Charlotte in Feb 2010).

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
We are having a picnic!  Outside food is encouraged / permitted.  Popcorn and candy will be available for sale.

Only sealed non-alcoholic beverages are allowed from the outside, and only in cans or non-glass bottles.  No outside alcohol is allowed.  Beer and wine will be available for sale.

Seating is on the lawn.  Bring your own blankets / chairs.

Bags will be checked.

No refunds or exchanges.  Rain or shine.

NC Museum of Art Members (with valid membership card) get in free when tickets are purchased at the gate.
